/Why Join?

Do you want to learn more about how the United Nations is tackling crime? Do you want to share with them your ideas on how technology could be used to uphold peace, justice and strong institutions? Do you want to code for justice, while receiving mentorship from experienced engineers and UN experts?

Africa Teen Geeks is teaming up with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for a global Hackathon4Justice in support of UNODC's Education for Justice (E4J) initiative. Up to 40 young tech innovators from across the globe will have the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity in a two-day hackathon to be held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Who are we looking for?

StudentsYoung creative people between the age of 13 to 18 enrolled in a high school

DevelopersStudents, who have basic coding skills and some experience with one or more development technologies, such as Java, C++, Python, Android, IOS, AR/VR

LanguageStudents with a basic proficiency in English

MotivationStudents, who are passionate about using their tech skills for social good and contribute to creating peaceful, inclusive and just societies

Funding for travel and accommodation is available.

Our speakers & mentorsEngineers from Apodytes, Georgetown University as well as experts from UNODC and other organizations will provide inspiration and guidance throughout the hackathon.
